Career development process takes place in five stages
Growth stage:
The age between 4-14 years is called the growth stage. Children explore areas of interest and ability with the help of fantasy play and curiosity. They begin to become more worried about their future. They are focused on performance and achievement in school.   They are learning adaptive work habits and attitudes, social skills, and time management.

Exploration stage:
Between 14 to 25 years is the exploration phase. Individuals make short-term decision using deferent experiences about would be profession and field of study. Ideas like what type of work would best suit personality and interests begin to arise in minds. Gradually, they begin to narrow their choices until they have decided on a career path, which is followed by career arrangement and implementation of that plan.
 
The establishment stag:
In this stage individuals become more stable and established in career. At that crucial stage of life they are either successful or become frustrated?
 
The maintenance stage: this is the stage where individuals rethink about their career. This part of the life involves stagnation, reconsideration, or modernization.
 
Decline stage:
This is the age of retirement and involves retirement or the beginning of a new specialized career or hobby. This is the most uncontrolled stage of life where individuals unable to control most of his life activities and they become helpless.
 
Parents remain influential during the first two stages because they provide the experiences and environment.  Flourishing kids are making headway, remain successful and satisfied in their future occupational position. Parents should know that it is not unusual for their children to be indecisive about their careers. They should be getting ready to provide resources, helping them make career related decisions. No one has all of the answers to career development related questions. They should teach their children how to get the answers to their questions. Hence Parents need to acquire complete knowledge of any field they wish to suggest for their children, as incomplete knowledge off track an innocent child to nowhere.
