Pakistan Army Jobs

Pakistan Army offers different nature of career opportunities to the youngsters of Pakistan every year.  Intermediate and graduated students are enlisted in Pakistan army as officers through various induction programs.  They are ranked as second lieutenant or captain after successful completion of the respective course.  Advertisements for Jobs in Pakistan Army are published in national newspapers.  These courses or commissions are detailed as under:

1.      PMA Long Course

PMA Long course is one of the famous ways to get commission in Pakistan Army.  Most of the students join Pakistan Army through PMA Long Course.  PMA Long course are advertised twice in a year.  That applicant having Intermediate with 60 percent mark or 50 % marks in intermediate plus 60 % marks in BA, BSc or BCom can apply for Pakistan Army Jobs. The applicant should be aged from 17 years to 22 years.  For graduate the age limit is 17 to 23 years while those having four years bachelor degree i.e B.S degree, for them the age limit is 17 years to 24 years.  Serving personals are allowed to apply for PMA long course up to the age of 25. Age restriction is relaxable for 3 months both in upper and lower age limit in all cases. After recommended for the course the applicant referred to PMA for training at Kako, Abbotabad. Upon Successful completion of the  course, the rank of sub-lieutenant is given to the cadet and is conferred with a B.A or  B.Sc degree.  
 

Selection procedure for PMA Long Course

  • Written and Intelligence Tests
  • Physical Tests
  • Interview
  • After Preliminary tests, qualified candidates are sent to ISSB for Tastings
  • Medical examination of ISSB recommended candidates carried out at nearby CMHs
  • Final selection at GHQ on the basis of candidate’s overall performance

2.    Technical cadet Course (pre-engineering group)

Candidates having F.Sc pre-engineering and age ranging from 17 to 21 years can get commission in Pakistan Army technical cadet course.  Candidates must have secured 65 % marks in F.Sc are eligible to apply for this course.  A test of FSc level comprising questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics is taken.  Successful candidates are called for I.S.S.B tests.  I.S.S.B qualifiers are medically examined in the nearest military hospital.  A final list is prepared and the successful candidates are sent to different colleges of Pakistan Army namely Military College of engineering, military college of signals, college of electrical and mechanical engineering.

After academic training of 4 years, the successful cadets are to under go for one year military training.  PMA Kakol is the training center for those officer selected for Pakistan army.  Those candidates who qualify ISSB tests are admitted to PMA for training.

3.    Army Medical College (Pre-medical group)

Those students who have passed FSc in Pre-medical with 70% marks and their age is between 17 to 21 years, they can apply for admission in Army Medical College for M.B.B.S course. Candidates from Baluchistan, Sind’s District Tharparkar and Omar Kot, Northern Areas, Azad Kashmir and FATA can apply with 65% marks.  They are commissioned in the rank of captain after completing the course.  Some seats are reserved for women under this scheme. 

4.    Commission in Armed Forces Nursing Service

Permanent Regular Commission as AFNS ( BSc Nursing )  are offered in Pakistan Army.  The Duration of Training is 4 years at AFPGMI Rawalpindi. The minimum qualification required for this commission is Matriculation with Science 1st Division and F.Sc (Pre-medical) with 50% Marks (Minimum.  The age limit is from 17-25 years. The candidate should be Un-married female or a widow/ separated Divorcee without encumbrances. The minimum height should be 5 feet 2 inches.

5.    Commission for Male as General Duty Medical Officers

Pakistan Army offers jobs opportunities for medical graduates as General Duty Medical Officers Specialists, Doctors Veterinary Medicine and Psychologist.  This is a Short Service Regular Commission or Direct Short Service Commission in Pakistan Army. Those having MBBS degree and are not more than 28 years old having height of 5 feet and 2 inches in case of male and 5 feet and 4 inches in case male candidates are eligible to apply for this commission.

6.    Commission as Classified Specialists as Majors

Classified Specialists jobs are offered to those professionals who are having MBBS with postgraduate qualifications i.e. FCPS, FRCS or MS in respective fields of specialties.  They should not be more than 32 years of age.  Age relaxation is applicable only in individual cases and on the recommendation of General Head Quarters Selection Board, Rawalpindi.   

7.     Femlas Jobs in Armed Forces Nursing Service

Female are also offered jobs opportunities in Pakistan Army through Commission in Armed Forces Nursing Service. Selected candidate are sent for 3 years General Nursing Training at various Combined Military Hospitals.  Minimum qualification required for this commission is Matriculation with Science having 55% Marks along with F.Sc (Pre-medical) with 50% Marks. The candidate should be aged between 17-25 and un-married female or a widow. Minimum height requirement is  5 feet 2 inches.

8.    Jobs as WOMEN COMMISSIONED OFFICERS

Jobs are also available for female candidates in the fields of Instructional and Staff Appointments for Grant of Direct Short Service Commission in the Army. The candidates must have B.E in various disciplines, MBA (IT) or M.Sc in Math or Physics and B.Sc engineering from PEC recognized engineering universities or colleges in Pakistan.   The Rank of Captain is offered in this commission.  For further details following link can be accessed.

9.    Jobs for Psychologist (Male)

Those having Master degree in Psychology with  2nd division and are aged 28 years which is relaxable in individual cases having higher qualification and experience. The height for Female candidates should be 5 Feet & 2 inches and for Male candidates, it should be 5 Feet & 4 inches.

10.    Computer Jobs in Pakistan Army (Information and Telecommunication Officers jobs)

Candidates having MS or MSc (18 years of educations) or B.E or B.Sc (16 years education) in the discipline of Electrical,   Telecommunication, Computer System, or Computer Software Engineering or Information Security can get short service commission in Pakistan Army.  The qualification should be acquired form a PEC or HEC recognized university or college in Pakistan.   The minimum required CGPA score is 3.0 or 65% for BE and B.Sc candidates and for M.S degree holders the CGPA score should be 3.0 / 65%.  The age limit is 28 years.  Height of the candidates must be in the range of 5 Feet & 4 Inches.  

11.    Commission as Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps (Male)

The qualification required for this commission is DVM or equivalent degree from Pakistan. Age limit is 21 to 28 years. The conditions for heights for Female candidates are 5 Feet & 2 inches and for Male candidates, it is 5 Feet & 4 inches.

Environment
A soldier is trained in such a way that he can face the enemy under any circumstances, therefore officers and solders are expected to be coped  with different sort of situation.  Army has to do its job whether it is storm, raining, snowing or intense hot and cold.

Future prospect
Progress in army is depending on the conditions of personal ability and success in the required examination.  Necessary training is provided at the time of up gradation of the position.  It takes normally one year to be lieutenant from second lieutenant, four year from lieutenant to captain and to reach at the slot of major it may take seven years.  Selecting suitable candidates for posts above major, increment is made according to capacity and eligibility.

Personal characteristic
An officer is expected to observe discipline. The most important quality of an officer in army is his leadership quality for which he must be confidence.  Analytical mind and prompt decision making ability is imperative.  It is necessary for an officer to analyze received information.  He must be proficient in his work and able to communicate his views to other so that he can create sense of comradeship.

  4. Yes, you can apply for AFNS-General Nursing commission in Pakistan Army. This course especially suitable for women who want to join Pakistan Army. You should have 50% Marks in F.Sc and age ranging from 17 to 25 years.
